Every year, the academy conducts skill enhancement training programme for the following categories of staff of district judiciary:
1. Sheristdars & Superintendents
2. Clerical staff- civil judiciary
3. Clerical staff- criminal judiciary
4. Amins & Process Servers
This staff of district judiciary are trained by judicial officers nominated by the academy. The trainers will attend an orientation programme every year. The training programme in each district is coordinated by the district judge, who will ensure that all the staff in the district are trained.

2. Kerala Judicial Service Examination - Pre-examination training for SC/ST candidates
Academy also arranges pre-selection training for the candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes, who have qualified for the final examination in the Munsiff- Magistrate recruitment tests. The aspirants are being trained in the substantive laws and procedural laws in order to enable them to better their performance in the selection tests.
3.Programmes for staff of the High Court
● English usage, grammar and legal language:
The Academy trains Personal Assistants and Confidential Assistants to the Judges in English usage, grammar and legal language. The module comprises of 30 sessions.
● Office Communication, Service Conditions of High Court Judges et cetera:
One day training programme was also conducted for the P.Ss to Judges on Social Etiquettes and Communication, Office Communication, Service Conditions of High Court Judges et cetera.
4.Legal education for Prosecutors
● Prosecutors attached to the Special Court for trial of PoCSO Act cases
The academy conducts special training programmes for the prosecutors attached to the special courts for trial of cases under the PoCSO Act.
● Government Pleaders at the district level
As requested by the Government, the academy has scheduled a two days training programme for the Government Pleaders at the district level on the Evidence Act, The Information and Technology Act, Cyber crimes et cetera.
●Government pleaders appearing before the Kerala Administrative Tribunal (upcoming)
The Board of Governors has accepted the proposal in principle to train the Government pleaders appearing before the Kerala Administrative Tribunal on service laws.
5. Legal education for Presidents and Members of District Consumer Redressal Commissions
Special training programmes are conducted every year for Presidents and Members of the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission on the nuances of the Consumer Protection Act and other relevant topics.
6. Legal education for Principal magistrates and members of the Juvenile Justice Boards & other stakeholders under the JJ(CPC) Act.
The academy also conducts special training sessions for Principal Magistrates and members of the Juvenile Justice Boards on the nuances of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, child friendly atmosphere in courts et cetera.
7. In-service training for principal counselors of Family Courts
Principal Counsellors are appointed in various family Courts in the state of Kerala by the Hon’ble High Court. The newly appointed Principal counselors are being given two months pre-service training. The Scheme of training for principal counselors are as follows:
Kerala Judicial Academy campus - Two weeks
Family Courts - Six weeks practical training
Training at the academy aims at the personality development of the counsellors i.e; modification of behaviour, development of self-esteem, change of attitude, etc. and the development of counselling skills. The training sessions are conducted by guest faculty having experience in counselling. After the first session of training at the Academy, the trainees are deputed to various Family Courts for practical training for a period of six weeks. During this period, the trainees will be under the control and supervision of Family Court Judges concerned. The trainees will actively participate in counseling sessions along with other counsellors. They will conduct individual counselling in selected cases. That apart, the trainees will familiarise themselves with the work in the bench section, accounts and the administrative work of the Family Courts, viz. filing of O.Ps., E.Ps., C.M.Ps. et cetera.
Specialised training on effective counselling in family disputes is conducted every year for principal counsellors of family courts.
8. Training on e-filing for Advocate master trainers
As directed by the e-Committee of the Hon’ble Supreme Court, the academy has conducted training programmes on e-filing for selected advocate master trainers utilising the services of eight judicial officers in the state who have been trained as Ubuntu-CIS Master Trainers (UMTs). These advocate trainers have subsequently conducted training in their respective bar associations and have reported the satisfactory conduct of such training programmes to the Directorate of IT, High Court of Kerala.
9.Training programme for police officers in the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police and above (upcoming):
On the basis of the report of Justice C.N. Ramachandran Nair Committee on police and jail reforms in Kerala, the academy has accepted the request from the State Police Chief to include training programmes in the academic calendar for police officers in the rank of DySP and above.
10. Training programme for excise officers (upcoming):
Special training programme will be conducted for selected excise officers in the academic year 2021-2022.
