PRE-EXAMINATION TRAINING FOR SC/ST CANDIDATES

Academy also arranges Pre-Selection Training for the candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes, who apply for the Munsiff- Magistrate recruitment tests. During this training the aspirants are being trained in the substantive Laws and Procedural laws in order to enable them to better their performance in the selection tests.

TRAINING FOR THE MUKTHIARS OF LAKSHADWEEP

The Academy arranges training to the Mukthyars of Lakshadweep. Mukthyars and Revenue Officers from Various Islands of Lakshadweep are attending the Training. The classes are handled by Directors, eminent advocates of the High Court of Kerala and Retired Judges.

TRAINING FOR THE MINISTERIAL STAFF OF HIGH COURT

As directed by the High Court, Academy has been conducting English training course for the P.As to Judges and C.As to Judges. Total module of the training course is for 30 sessions during which training on English usage, grammar and legal language was imparted.

Besides this, one day training programme was also conducted for the P.Ss to Judges on Social Etiquettes and Communication, Office Communication, Service Conditions of High Court Judges etc.

TRAINING FOR THE MINISTERIAL STAFF OF SUBORDINATE COURT

1) Ministerial staff

From 2008 onwards, Academy conducts regular training programmes for the ministerial staff of the Lower Courts at the District Centres. Twenty Eight such training programmes have already been conducted by the Academy.

Target group of officials :

Civil Side : Head Clerks, Central Nazirs, Bench Clerks, U.D Clerks & L.D Clerks

Criminal Side : Junior Superintends, Bench Clerks, U.D Clerks, L.D Clerks

2) Supervisory Staff

Academy also conducts regular training for the Supervisory staff of the Lower Courts. Detailed syllabi of the aforesaid training have been evolved by the Academy to make the programme effective.

The target group of officials for this programme are:

Civil Side : Sheristedars, Jr.Superintendents, Sr. Superintendents and Fair Copy Superintendents.

Criminal Side : Sheristedars, Head Clerks and Jr.Superintendents.

PRE-SERVICE TRAINING FOR THE PRINCIPAL COUNSELLORS

Principal Counsellors are appointed in various family Courts in the state of Kerala by the Hon’ble High Court. The newly appointed Principal counselors are being given two months pre-Service training.

The pattern of Training is as follows.

Kerala Judicial Academy - Two weeks training in theory

Family Courts - Six weeks practical training

Training at the Academy aims at the personality development of the Counsellors i.e; modification of behaviour, development of self-esteem, change of attitude, etc. and the development of counselling skills. During this training, faculty from Kusumagiri Mental Health Center, Rajagiri School of Social Sciences, Santhigram-I.C.T.A. and psychologists from various hospitals are being invited as Guest Lecturers. After the first session of training at the Academy, the trainees were deputed to various Family Courts for undergoing practical training for a period of six weeks. During this period, the trainees were under the control and supervision of Family Court Judges. There the trainees actively participate in counseling programmes along with other Counsellors and also conducte individual counselling works in selected cases. Besides these, they attend the bench work, accounting and administrative work of the Family Courts, viz. filing of O.Ps., E.P., C.M.P. etc.

TRAINING FOR JUDICIAL OFFICERS IN UBUNTU OPERATING SYSTEM & AIR SOFTWARE

The Kerala Judicial Academy has been in the forefront of providing necessary tools, software and training to the Judicial Officers. Ubuntu Operating System has been installed in the laptops provided to all Judicial Officers in the State. Kerala Judicial Academy has been providing all necessary assistance for the above training for the Judicial Officers in Ubuntu Operating System.

The Kerala Judicial Academy has provided All India Reporter software containing reported decisions of the Supreme Court and all the High Courts from 1950 onwards. Comprehensive AIR software provided by the Kerala Judicial Academy consists of Criminal Law Journal as well, which contains reported decisions of Supreme Court and High Courts on matters relating to Criminal Law from 1950 onwards. Training has been imparted to all the Judicial Officers to enable them to use the search engine of the AIR software in an effective manner .
